Personally I think deck drains are way over rated in boats of this size range...if I was to do my boat again, I would not even put drains in.

My 21 had wood stringers...they were mostly gone. The wood is only used to form the fiberglass mat...the fiber glass mat is the strength . All I did is remove some...

I used this on the 21's fuel tank...at least 10 years ago, and it is doing just great...also painted the entire inside stringer and bilge area with that product...NO complaints.

Your best bet is to check out the coverage on the type of paint you want to use...there is no easy answer. If you go to a store like Fiberlay they can get you going in the right direction.
